The rooms of Palazzo Besso

Sala lettura

Reading room

Today's Reading Room of the Library, Salone Verde at the time of Marco Besso, overlooks the side of Largo Torre Argentina with two large windows. To admire is the pictorial decoration of the ceiling, in Art Nouveau style, characterized by a large central painting, signed Lemmo Rossi Scotti and by a floral frame that seems to move under our eyes, producing an almost kaleidoscopic effect. The composition is a refined allegory of Wisdom, achieved through the study and exercise of the virtues and is enhanced by the dosage of the lighting directed upwards. Since the beginning of its establishment, the Foundation has chosen this room to adapt it to a Reading Room due to its size, position near the entrance and its brightness.
