Museum Area

DSC05826_edited.jpg

The Foundation created a museum itinerary in 2018 with the aim of raising awareness of Marco Besso's art collection. The museum is accessed from the entrance to the library where the busts of Marco and Ernesta Besso, the owners of the house, are placed.

The museum itinerary begins with an area dedicated to Marco and his son Salvatore with memories and testimonies of family life but also work.

Of particular interest is the next part with objects from the Far East, including four Buddha heads of various sizes.

After the Camerino dei Baccanali, of the second Ferrara school of the mid-sixteenth century, the glazed gallery begins, the backbone of the museum itinerary, along which some rooms open:

that of the Animals, with the painting Animals with a landscape background by Franz Snyders, and two singular pairs of bronze sculptures, a turtle with a heron from the Japanese Pavilion of the Universal Exhibition in Rome in 1911, then the Sala delle Vedute , the room dedicated to the female figure with, among other things, a splendid pastel by Rosalba Carriera, and finally the last one, that of the twentieth century, in which there are travel memories, futurist posters and many objects and testimonies of the Electricians School that Marco Besso founded in 1920.
